Fanny launched Inspiring Gardens in 2023.
She is originally from France where her passion for plants begin. The red roses from her grandmother, the Tulips for her grandfather and the peonies from her Mom’s garden got Fanny hooked on gardering.
Around 4 months of growing and blooming season but only 3 months favorable for propagating plants and 3 others months (winter) where everything in the garden is dormant. No need to say, it was a little frustating and patience was definitely needed.
Fanny initially studies to become a fire fighter. Struggling with the cost of studying, she then decided to take a break in her studies and travel to Tasmania.
While traveling around Australia, she had the opportunities to work in different fields including nurseries. She had the privilege to work for Jenny’s Orchids Garden in Howard Springs. Such a beautiful work place where she learned a lot about retail nursery and nursing plants. She never returned to complete her fire fighter studies and got stuck in Darwin.
She hit the road again with her husband Ant and both worked in a Cactus nursery down South.
She had no idea that her passion for plants would then become more than a hobby 10 years later.
When she first arrive in Darwin, she had no idea Darwin had an all year round growing season and she didn’t know eiher how hot and humid the weather could get here, in the tropics (what you do for love).
Slowly she became a plant addict (pretty good addition really). Seeing cuttings recovering and growing as a beautiful new plant amazed her :
She studied a numerous of books related to horticulture and the art of propagation technique to get as much knowledge as possible.
If you come around for a visit you might run into Ant, our social butterfly, and the reason why Fanny got stuck in Darwin 🙂 Fanny’s husband is always here to help around the nursery, have a chat or help you load your car with plants.
During the week he is plastering or gyprocking. When he isn’t working on the job site, he is potting plants at the back listening to his favourite music.
You may have already met him on our market days.
From the beginning of this adventure Fanny can count on the unwavering support of Ant.
